Privacy

carry is a command line tool that runs on your computer. This page explains what it touches and where your data goes. Short version: your chats go from your computer to your own Google Drive, and we never receive them.

What carry reads on your computer

carry reads chat history that AI coding tools already store on your computer, for example Claude Code (~/.claude/projects) and Codex (~/.codex/sessions). It only reads them to list them by name and to package a chat you choose to share. Names and settings are kept in ~/.carry on your computer.

What leaves your computer

Only a chat you explicitly share. Before it leaves, carry replaces common secret patterns (API keys, tokens, private keys, KEY=value lines) with [REDACTED]. Redaction is pattern based and can miss things, so please do not share chats that contain secrets you care about.

The shared file goes to the destination you set up: your Google Drive (web mode) or a folder synced by Google Drive, Dropbox or iCloud (folder mode). There is no carry server. The VXMZ Studio does not receive, store or see your chats.

Google Drive access

In web mode carry asks Google for one permission: drive.file, which lets it see and edit only the files carry itself creates or that you open with it. It cannot read the rest of your Drive.

• carry creates a folder called carry in your Drive and uploads shared chats there.
• When you share with someone by email, Google sends them a link. If you choose a link share, anyone holding the link can open that one file.
• Your Google sign-in token is stored only on your computer in ~/.carry/google.json, readable only by your user account.
• You can remove carry's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and delete shared files from your Drive like any other file.

carry's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google is used only to upload, share and download the chats you choose, and is never sold, used for advertising or used to train AI models.

This website

The site uses Umami, a cookie free analytics tool that we run ourselves (not a third-party service), to count page views. It does not set cookies, track you across sites or store personal data, and it counts nothing if your browser sends Do Not Track. If you use the feedback form, your mail app sends the note to pvamshikrishna369@gmail.com, and it is used only to reply and improve carry.

Other tools

carry uses txcript (by SkillSync) on your computer to convert chats between tools. The AI tools you continue in (Claude, Codex, ChatGPT and others) and Google Drive have their own privacy policies.
